Have you ever found yourself bogged down by your own negative vibes? You're not making any money, or new clients are difficult to find, or creativity just isn't flowing. It's easy to give up and feel down on yourself. I've been there plenty, but the trick is to keep your chin up!
As soon as I learned that having the right mindset is an important part of evolving, my freelance business has gone the extra mile. I remind myself daily that there will always be ups and downs in business, it's only natural. Knowing this is normal and happens to everyone else takes some weight off my shoulders and keeps me moving forward.
It's really easy to see other people's successes. You see the thousands of followers and the self-made millionaires and strive to get there as well. But we forget that they also had hardships, failures, or lost investments before reaching their success. We're all only human after all.
I've had my Etsy shop for two years now but only about seventy sales to show for it. I would look at similar stores that had one to two thousand sales by now and wonder, "how did they get there?" Immediately, I thought, well, maybe people don't like what I'm creating or Etsy is not the right platform for me.
But then, in January 2020 something clicked. Instead of viewing my Etsy Shop as a failure I looked at it as an opportunity to grow. So, I got to work! I watched endless YouTube videos, joined Facebook groups, and listened to plenty of podcasts about how to run a successful Etsy store. And slowly but surely, at the end of April, despite the pandemic, the orders came pouring in.
IT WAS AMAZING!
For the month of May, I received at least six orders every day. EVERY. DAY. Now, my orders just keep coming and coming. I tear up every time I think about it, honestly. The whole experience reminded me that with a little elbow grease anything is possible.
Now, I want to share my thoughts with you. I know it sound cheesy and cliché, but it's the damn truth; keep a positive mindset, do the footwork, and let your passion guide your life! As the saying goes, "do what you love, and you'll never work a day in your life." Of course, to me, that means working my butt off for my business!
